Do you ever wonder if there’s anything else you could do for your child’s health? As you are probably aware, following a healthy, balanced diet is very important. Similarly, did you know that there are other things you should do to keep your children’s teeth as healthy as possible?
For example, you may know that you should be brushing and flossing your little one’s teeth. We typically recommend brushing your little one’s teeth for two minutes two times a day. It’s also important for you to brush their teeth gently and to use a toothbrush that has soft bristles. If you don’t, you could actually damage their teeth or their gums. Similarly, please use toothpaste that contains zero fluorides.
Still, even before your child’s first tooth has erupted, you should try to keep their mouth clean with a wet rag. We suggest holding your little one so you can see into their mouth when you clean their gums. We also recommend cleaning their gums each time your little one eats.
It’s also important that you do not give your little one a bottle with sugary liquids in it when you put them to bed. Unfortunately, milk and juice can also cause dental problems. If you give your child a bottle with any of these drinks in it, their pearly whites could become exposed to sugar while they’re asleep. This will ultimately leave them more susceptible to tooth decay. If your child refuses to sleep without a bottle, try filling it with water.
